Lights on at Golden Grove!

After several weeks of hard work the Lights on After School planning committee made up of 10 3^rd, 4^th and 5^th graders finished the decorating, the planning and the anticipating - Would the rest of the students like it? Did we decorate enough? Did we order enough food? Did we drive Mr. Rob to distraction enough? By 2:35 they had their answers!

            Yes! The students liked it. The DJ/KJ started the afternoon with some great dance music including the Cha Cha Slide that had everybody hurrying to the dance floor to join in. Parents, students and staff got up to dance. As the afternoon moved on dances including the limbo were played, hula hoop contests discovered who the best hula hoopers are, and our singers strutted their stuff with karaoke.

            Yes again! The decorations were awesome. The committee decorated every pole and wall in the cafeteria. Someone was even bold enough to decorate the sno cone machine!  The banners made by each group of students shared their feeling about SACC with the rest of the students and our parent guests!

            Absolutely! With four types of chicken wings the committee made sure everyone had more than enough to eat.  Baked beans, cole slaw and potato salad completed the meal and with committee members serving, the serving table also had enough to eat! The punch was a hit! Student servers dipped and filled all afternoon!

            As for Mr. Rob, he is easily distracted anyway. He worked the sno cone machine after everyone on the committee were settled into their assigned jobs.  The committee picked out eight new flavors for sno cones. Tiger's Blood, Blue Hawaiian, Cola, Mango and Blue Bubblegum are some of the new flavors.

            Yes, Golden Grove had a great Lights on After School celebration! Food, music, friends and a super place to be turned into a great time had by all!
